With iEV you can save money on your next car purchase. Here you’ll find some examples of how exactly it works.
Example1: Tesla S
Let’s say you want to buy a Tesla S.
At the moment there is no data about prices of battery, but there will be three versions of the car with three different batteries. They will also have different prices, according to the battery size.
The question is: Do you really need the biggest battery for your needs? Analyzing your driving pattern and style with iEV, you can see if the medium or even the smaller battery will suit your needs. In this case, compared to the bigger battery you will save at least 10,000 US$*.
*) Disclaimer: We don’t have exact values for the Tesla Model S yet. This value was calculated based on expert’s assumptions.
Example 2: Check YOUR OWN range
There will come the time when EVs are very popular. You’ll find ads and information about electric cars on every car magazine, specialized web sites, newspapers, etc. Actually, this has already begun.
Since the range of an electric car is critical, people has to be sure that the car meets their needs. If the ads informs that the car has a range of 100 miles or kms, grab iEV for iPhone and simulate the range of the car with your driving pattern. Then check the battery size informed within the car specifications and compare it with the size calculated by iEV. It can be very possible that you get up to 50% less range than what the manufacturer says!
For instance a Nissan Leaf has a battery size of 24 kWh and the manufacturer says it will give you 100 miles or 160 kms. If you want to know if this is enough for you, take iEV, drive 100 miles and check how many kWh do you spend with your driving style. You’ll see that your range will be lower than the informed one.
iEV will prevent you to buy the wrong electric car, which will save you a lot of money and troubles!
Example 3: EVs not for you?
Maybe electric cars are really not for you. Get iEV, drive, simulate and see the results. If you drive like crazy or long distances, probably electric cars are not appropriate for you.
iEV will prevent you from investing time, effort and money into a technology that won’t fit your needs.
Example 4: Save fuel with iEV changing the way you drive
When you simulate with iEV, you’ll see how much energy you would have used on a electric car. If you drive the same distance everyday, you’ll notice that the energy consumption may vary. You can start experimenting with different driving styles, and see what causes the energy savings.
iEV will help you saving fuel for your normal car, since you see the energy usage at a glance.
